Our Horses

The horses of Sunrise Stables are the backbone of our program and are treated as such. Each lesson horse has been tested and trained by professionals to ensure that they are as safe as they can be. From the smallest Shetland Pony to the largest Draft horse they love their jobs and it shows! Many of our horses were rescued from neglect, abuse or abandonment and without a place at Sunrise Stables wouldn't have much of a life. Here, they are loved by riders of all ages and treated with the respect they deserve.

Cup Cake

This is the sweetest Shetland pony you will ever meet! At just 9 1/2 hands high, he is perfect for giving the smallest riders the confidence it takes to move on to the bigger horses.

Pippin

This little welsh pony had a great career as a jumping show pony. He is a fantastic horse for the intermediate rider to polish their skills on and loves trotting around the arena with young riders

Razz-Ma-Tazz

Taz was once a state champion show horse but is proud of his new, if more sedate, life working with children.

Tara

Tara is an American treasure! Born in the wild and rounded up by the BLM, she was braught to SRS at the age of 6 where after many hours of patience and training, has gone on to be a special part of our lesson program.

Baby Blue

Blue is the only horse ever born at Sunrise Stables! He is a favorite among the boy riders and everyone loves his one blue eye.

In memory of a special horse - Angel will always be in our hearts
